The Texas Society for Neurodiagnostic Technology is an organization composed of technologists and practitioners who perform tests in the field of Neurodiagnostic Technology.
Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) is the medical diagnostic field that is dedicated to the recording of bioelectrical activity of the nervous system.
Neurodiagnostic Technologists and Practitioners are health professionals who possess the knowledge and skills to obtain quality, interpretable recordings. They work under the supervision of licensed physicians.
NEURODIAGNOSTIC TEST MODALITIES
Electroencephalography (EEG)
Magnetoencephalography (MEG)
Evoked Potentials (EP)
Autonomic Reflex Testing (ART)
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
Polysomnography (PSG)
Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM)
ICU EEG, or Long-Term Monitoring (LTM)
Clinical Neurodiagnostics assesses the brain, spinal cord, and nerve pathways. It also includes testing multiple physical functions during sleep and critical care. The results of these diagnostic tests are recorded by qualified technologists and interpreted by physicians to diagnose a broad spectrum of potentially life-threatening neurological disorders.
Intraoperative Neuromonitoring involves assessing brain, spinal cord, nerve, and muscle function during surgeries that carry a significant risk of stroke and paralysis. This type of neurophysiological service is performed by qualified providers. Depending on the type of provider, level of complexity, and risk of the surgery, a physician supervisor may be present on-site, or securely connected from a remote location.
